Manager / Senior Manager, Business Development

The Manager, Business Development will support the Chief Business Officer across diverse functional areas including business development, fundraising, alliance management, and strategic analysis. Given the research stage of Aro’s portfolio as well as the nature of company collaborations, the Manager, Business Development must have a strong scientific background in order to succeed in role.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify potential business development opportunities by researching select companies and preparing for company presentations
  • Assist with execution of partnership transactions, including participation in document reviews, creation of materials for Board of Directors and Executive Leadership and other activities
  • Act as project manager for portfolio of BD and investor opportunities and ensure internal alignment with respect to priorities and follow-up
  • Manage complex alliance interactions and serve as key point of contact for select alliances
  • Attend key scientific and investor congresses to stay abreast of scientific landscape and to build relationships with industry stakeholders
  • Assist with development of corporate materials, including company overviews, “pitch decks” for investors, etc.
  • Conduct competitive analysis on comparable companies
  • Conduct market research on competitive landscape for select therapeutic areas to assist with internal R&D prioritization
  • Conduct scientific literature and competitive analyses of candidate drug targets/product concepts

Job Requirements:

  • 2-5 years experience in scientific facing roles (drug discovery, business development, etc.) in the pharmaceutical industry or related field
  • Advanced scientific degree desired
  • Proactive with ability to contribute broadly within a small company environment
  • Experience with negotiation and execution of transactions is a plus
  • Basic understand of finance, valuation and modelling
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively convey messages to senior level stakeholders
  • Ability to excel in a highly cross functional environment
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
