Research Associate for protein production, purification and in vitro display.

Company Overview

Aro Biotherapeutics has an opportunity for a Research Associate in our new laboratory located in Philadelphia, PA. Centyrins are a unique protein drug platform ideally suited for tissue or cell delivery of multiple drug payloads including nucleic acid drugs. Centyrins, a single domain protein engineered to combine the binding properties of antibodies with the biophysical properties of small molecules, represent a new approach to addressing diseases of high unmet need with molecular targets that have previously been ‘undruggable.’ Aro Biotherapeutics was launched in January 2018 and has office and laboratory space in the Cambridge Innovation Center in Philadelphia.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Chemistry, the successful candidate will be responsible for working on campaigns for the selection and optimization of Centyrins to advance the Aro Biotherapeutics portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for working on the design and implementation of experiments with external collaborators and for establishing Centyrin characterization methodologies in Aro laboratories. The Research Associate will apply in vitro display technologies for selection of protein candidates and will work with a team to engineer, express, purify and characterize novel Centyrin candidates using biophysical and biochemical methods. You will join a team of chemists and biologists developing Centyrins and Centyrin-conjugates to advance a portfolio of drug candidates in disease areas with high unmet need.

MS or significant expertise in Protein Engineering and recombinant protein expression in E. coli is essential; experience in some aspect of display technologies (CIS-display, mRNA-display, Ribosome-display or phage-display) would be an asset. Experience in working in a team environment and with external collaborators is required. Ideal candidates will be independent, collaborative and enthusiastic about contributing to a fast-growing team in a culture that rewards innovation. Aro Biotherapeutics is an equal opportunity employer; all qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard for any characteristic protected by law. Aro Biotherapeutics provides a competitive benefits package.
